A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jaw where a tooth is missing. Once it has bonded with the bone, a crown is fitted on top. The result looks, feels and works like a natural tooth: you eat, speak and smile without thinking about it.
Who it is for
Implants suit most adults with one or more missing teeth and healthy gums. If bone has been lost, a small graft can be done first. We check all of this at the first visit with a 3D scan, so there are no surprises later.
What happens, step by step
- First visit: examination, 3D scan and a written plan with the full cost
- Placement: the post is placed under local anaesthetic, usually in under an hour
- Healing: three to four months while the bone bonds with the post
- Crown: the final tooth is fitted and adjusted to your bite
Looking after it
An implant is cleaned like any other tooth: brushing, flossing and a checkup every six months. With that routine, implants routinely last for decades.
